Cactus Patchers has been a chapter of AQG since the beginning of the guild. While we have supported various charities over the years, we have also maintained a consistent meeting schedule to share all things quilting. In addition to meetings, we have an annual holiday party, a spring event that always requires desserts, a retreat or two, and lots of fun!
We've had some awesome quilt challenges presented by an award-winning member; these quilts are entered into the group challenge category at the AQG Quilt Show. Our chapter has a charity focus each year which has included Days for Girls, Quilts of Valor, New Leaf, Sunshine Acres, Catholic Services, AZ Blankets 4 Kids, and many more. Participation is not mandatory but always appreciated.
Our meetings are currently held on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month. Our first meeting each month, from 6:30-8:30pm, is a program which might be a lecture, a trunk show, or a lesson on a technique. We have enjoyed presentations by Heidi Pridemore, Jackie Kunkle, Sweet Pz’s Designs, Carla Klop, and many more. These are always inspirational!
Our second meeting each month is Friendship Sew where we either work on a charity project, our own projects, or have a make and take project led by one of our members. Currently these get togethers are held from 3:00 to 8:00 pm. You can come and go at your leisure.
Dues are $20 per year which covers room rental, speaker honorariums, zoom fees, and the extras we might need for events. We hope to see you soon at one of our meetings
